Maryam Nawaz Launches Free Housing Scheme for Industrial Workers in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the allotment process for free residential flats for industrial workers, terming it a milestone in her government’s labor welfare program.

Under the scheme, applications are being invited for 750 housing units at the Workers Welfare Complex in Sundar Industrial Estate, Kasur (Phase-I). A special quota has been set aside for the widows of deceased workers (3%) and for disabled workers (2%).

In the first phase, industrial workers from Lahore and Kasur districts are eligible to apply, with two-thirds of the quota reserved for Kasur and the remaining one-third for Lahore. The deadline for applications is September 8.

Separately, during a meeting with Expo Association General Manager Achinoki Manatsu, the chief minister praised the theme of World Expo 2025: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” She highlighted Punjab’s cultural and economic strengths, particularly its traditional crafts such as Ajrak and Blue Pottery, alongside its diverse natural resources.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Punjab’s artisans are playing a vital role in preserving and showcasing these crafts, noting that Pakistan’s pavilion has already attracted 1.2 million visitors. The Expo Association welcomed her remarks, while Achinoki Manatsu expressed appreciation for her support of the Expo’s mission to improve public services, safeguard lives, and address global social challenges.
