Sindh Fast-Tracks Jam Sadiq Bridge for Yellow Line BRT
Karachi — Sindh is racing ahead on the Jam Sadiq Bridge, a key link for the Yellow Line BRT, with completion now expected ahead of schedule. The sleek new bridge will feature lanes for buses, cars, pedestrians, and even cyclists—a modern revamp before the old structure is torn down and rebuilt.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, on-site with officials, revealed that Yellow Line depots are under way, while the Red Line BRT is set to wrap up its central corridor by December. Karachiites can also look forward to double-decker and electric buses next month, plus the launch of free pink scooters for women, complete with training and licences.
Backed by the World Bank, the project has already earned a thumbs-up for its speedy progress. Memon also flagged off other PPP-led initiatives—from solar panels to housing schemes—before wishing senior leader Khursheed Shah a swift recovery.
Karachi’s commute may finally be getting a long-awaited upgrade—this time, with style.
