RDA Cracks Down: FIR Lodged Against ‘Defiant’ Housing Scheme in Rawalpindi
In a dramatic escalation of its anti-encroachment drive, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the owners of Wazir Town Housing Scheme, accusing them of flouting regulations and continuing illegal construction despite repeated warnings.
The FIR, registered at Chaklala Police Station on the directives of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, follows earlier notices and sealing of properties for violating approved maps and plans.
DG Murtaza has instructed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to adopt a “zero-tolerance policy” toward unauthorized housing projects, unlawful commercial activity, and encroachments. She further directed the recovery of pending fees and charges for the regularization of illegal structures under RDA’s jurisdiction.
An RDA spokesperson emphasized that the crackdown is intended to shield the public from fraudulent schemes and protect genuine investments. Citizens have been urged to voluntarily remove encroachments to avoid legal penalties and financial loss.
