Punjab to Develop Water Supply & Sewerage Master Plan for 14 Districts

The Punjab government has approved a comprehensive six-month master plan to upgrade water supply and sewerage systems across 14 districts. The initiative will be led jointly by the Housing Department and Local Government Department, with WASA managing directors designated as focal persons to ensure effective coordination.

The plan will conduct a detailed review of existing infrastructure, covering water pipelines, sewerage networks, and stormwater drains. It will also introduce climate-resilient strategies, propose a phased financial framework, and strengthen institutional capacity for long-term sustainability.

Districts included in the project are DG Khan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhang, Okara, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Murree, and Nankana Sahib. Officials said the initiative will help modernize essential services and support future urban development needs.
