Pakistan, China to Launch Joint AI, Data & Fiber Network Projects Under CPEC
Islamabad/Beijing, Sept 26, 2025 — Pakistan and China have agreed to expand cooperation under CPEC with a focus on digital infrastructure and innovation. Key initiatives include the development of data centers, a nationwide fiber-optic network, and joint AI and quantum technology labs.
The deal, finalized at the 14th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting in Beijing, also includes 10,000 PhD scholarships, innovation hubs, and internship programs for Pakistani youth in collaboration with Chinese institutions.
This marks a shift in CPEC Phase Two, with a stronger emphasis on tech-driven growth, clean energy, and poverty reduction through inclusive, regional development.
Plans are also underway for export-oriented SEZs, enhanced border trade markets, and a mining corridor linking Chagai to Gwadar.
