Fake E-Challan Scam Targets Citizens in Major Cities

A new wave of fake e-challan scams is targeting motorists across Pakistan’s major cities. Scammers are sending WhatsApp and SMS messages posing as traffic police, with fake challan links or APK downloads designed to steal personal and financial data.

Authorities warn that these messages often look official, using registration details and police branding to trick victims. Citizens are advised to verify all challans only through official portals or Safe City apps, and never click on suspicious links or download unknown apps.

Officials stress that genuine challans are not sent via WhatsApp and no bank or police authority will ask for sensitive details through such channels. Victims are urged to report suspicious messages to local police or cybercrime wings immediately.
